The Modest Dresser's Wardrobe Essentials {Skirts Part One}

As modest dressers, there are some things that you need to have in your closet, sure you can live without them, but why would you want to? :)

Black Skirts
You need a black skirt in your closet! They're so versatile, and come in so many different designs. I have two different ones up there, a shorter, more fitted skirt, and a long, loose and flowing one.

Both look great with flats, heels, and I think the shorter one looks fine with tennis shoes as long as it goes with the top.

Black skirts can be dressed up, or dressed down. A simple t-shirt will make it a more casual look, and a blouse and cardigan can dress it up.

Khaki Skirts
I've fallen in love with khaki recently. It's amazing. At my school, you can't wear denim, so if I am looking for a casual look, I can wear a khaki skirt, and voila instant casual outfit.
If I want, I can dress khaki up with heels and a nice blouse.

Khaki goes good with almost any top in your closet but I think that browns, greens, and blues look best with it.

Shoes can vary from tennis shoes, to heels, to flats, to boots depending on the day and the occasion. Khaki skirts are just awesome.

Denim Skirts

I couldn't leave out denim skirts!

Denim skirts are great for casual days! I wouldn't pair them with the shoe options that they were paired with in the pictures, but these three skirts are great examples of the different styles you can find in denim skirts.
The possibilities are nearly endless.

The first picture is a shorter flowy skirt. I love this one! It is so feminine, modest, and nice.

The second picture is a fitted skirt. A denim pencil skirt. A great addition to any modest dresser's wardrobe. It looks great with tennis shoes, flats, and sandals. Denim is usually casual, but a nice blouse can dress it up a bit, and flowy tops look amazing with fitted skirts.

The third picture is a long, flowing denim skirt. It is a favorite among fundamental Christians. I don't wear these too often. I find they get in the way a lot, especially if you're an active person, but I still love them and think they're great in cooler months. You can even wear leggings or jeans under for extra warmth, and no one would even know.

I think that longer flowing denim skirts look best with flats or boots or sandals. Tennis shoes look odd with such a long skirt, and heels look odd with any denim skirt because denim is casual and heels are dressy.

That's all for now. I will probably have a Part 2 Skirts essential sometime in the future, and then I might move onto Shirt essentials.

Thanks for stopping by!
