2012...like whoa

Oh my goodness! 2011 went by way too fast! 2012 will probably go by faster! It's insane.

2011 was a good, peaceful year for me. Nothing bad happened this year and I had some good times! :)

I'm looking forward to 2012, particularly finally getting my license!!! I'll be 17 by the time I get it, but I hope to have it by summer! :)

I am thankful to God for a great year, and I am praying for another amazing one!

Tonight I am staying home, but I'm baking cookies, making tacos, and relaxing.

happy new year to everyone!!!

Ask Me

I want to do an About Me post soon. I was wondering if any of my wonderful readers had any questions for me that I can include in my post.

Leave a comment with as many questions as you want! :)

Love to you all!

Randomness and Rambles.

Today was a really good day! For Christmas, I got an iPod touch, and it still hasn't arrived. Today we learned that it has been shipped (we purchased it on eBay). Anyways, it ended up being really confusing because the tracking number said it had been confirmed as delivered, but that isn't true, so hopefully everything works out with that.

I got a new Laker jersey today also, which was another Christmas present. It ended up being perfect! My dad was worried he ordered the wrong number, but it ended up being right! I have two now!

I also decided what I want to major in at college. This was a major step (wow, no pun intended! lol). It hit me while I was doing dishes. I want to major in Secondary English Education. I really do not want to be a teacher, no matter how hard everyone else wants me to be. I know I want to work with teens in the ministry someday, and I am good at English. This seemed to be the perfect choice. It would be a teaching major, but I would also have other options since it is an English major and being a high school teacher isn't really bad at all.

I really want to be a wife and mother more than anything, but having an English degree would be something to fall back on. There are other careers I am (more like thought of or was interested in) interested in such as cosmetology, personal fitness trainer, and photography, but it would seem to me that an English major would be the most logical and ethical choice.

Well, thanks for reading wonderful people! I think coming up, I shall do an About Me sort of post. :)

Beach Craving!

I have a serious beach craving right now. I want to go to the beach like...now!
<3 Venice Beach
I really want to go to my favorite beacin the world, Venice Beach, California.

To me, there is so much to love about Venice Beach.
The picture above is one of the graffiti walls. Graffiti artists can obtain a permit and spray paint the walls, trees, trash cans, boats, anything within a certain area. It changes up all the time. I love it!

The Boardwalk.
The boardwalk is the most interesting and unique part of Venice Beach.
All of those tents are shops, and on either side of the boardwalk, people are selling anything from jewelry, clothes, your name on a grain of rice, paintings, you name it. Mind you, every 5th shop (almost literally!) is a pot shop. lol
It's legal there, for medical purposes. It's legal where I live too, in fact, there are 7 on my street!!! It's pretty humorous actually.
All in all, the Boardwalk is a place you have to visit if you are in the LA area. It is the number one tourist attraction in Southern California.

Then of course, we have the actual beach part of Venice. It's beautiful! It's a certified blue wave beach! A lot of beaches in California are polluted and, mucky and green...it's pretty gross, but certain beaches are blue, and Venice is one, officially!
Another good thing is most people go to Venice for the Boardwalk, so the beach is hardly ever SUPER crowded, like say, Oceanside. (I should do a post on Oceanside!)

Venice Beach also has man-made canals which you can take a real Gondola on, all kinds of restaurants, Muscle Beach (an outdoor gym where Arnold Schwarzenegger actually used to work out), outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, volley ball, dunes, it's amazing. If you are in LA, stop by Venice!!!

I'm good enough

Say it. "I'm good enough."

source
So many girls think they aren't good enough. They aren't skinny enough, they aren't pretty enough, they're hair isn't straight enough, the list goes on.

Today, I wanted to tell you that you are good enough.

So many girls struggle with self-esteem and body issues.

They may realize they're insecurities after seeing a mega-edited girl on the cover of a magazine. They may realize they're insecurities if a friend says something without thinking. Whatever it is, too many girls think they aren't good enough.

You. Are. Good. Enough. you are more than good enough...You. Are. Perfect.

You're gorgeous, amazing....you're you...and you shouldn't have a problem with being you.

God made you the way you are. You are perfect in His sight...

Psalm 139:14
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

I'm not good enough...     YES, YOU ARE!!!

December??? Whaaa!

I cannot believe December is already upon us! Another year coming to a close? Wow. Insanity to the max.

For most people December is a cold month. Cold for me meaning maybe 50, but not likely. More like 70's. I wish it got cold but it just doesn't. :(  So talking about weather made me check the reports and it is going to be in the mid-upper 60's the next few days. Tonight the low is 33. WOW! ""__" awesome!

Anyways, cold weather is my favorite. Especially for style! Layering, sweaters, scarves, leggings, boots! Yay!

http://www.forever21.com/Product/Category.aspx?br=f21&category=sweater_other Forever21 has a ton of great sweaters right now. :)

As soon as I can I want to start posting pictures of my outfits. :)
!
On another weather-related note...Epic Windstorms in West!!! It's crazy. The power went out at school today, so we got to go home early (WIN!!!!) a tree fell on a busy street, and winds were up to like 100 mph in LA!!! INSANE! They were like 20 mph here, which is also crazy!

I guess it is setting records for California! (I live there....if you haven't guessed already. lol)

The Modest Dresser's Wardrobe Essentials {Skirts Part One}

As modest dressers, there are some things that you need to have in your closet, sure you can live without them, but why would you want to? :)

Black Skirts
You need a black skirt in your closet! They're so versatile, and come in so many different designs. I have two different ones up there, a shorter, more fitted skirt, and a long, loose and flowing one.

Both look great with flats, heels, and I think the shorter one looks fine with tennis shoes as long as it goes with the top.

Black skirts can be dressed up, or dressed down. A simple t-shirt will make it a more casual look, and a blouse and cardigan can dress it up.

Khaki Skirts
I've fallen in love with khaki recently. It's amazing. At my school, you can't wear denim, so if I am looking for a casual look, I can wear a khaki skirt, and voila instant casual outfit.
If I want, I can dress khaki up with heels and a nice blouse.

Khaki goes good with almost any top in your closet but I think that browns, greens, and blues look best with it.

Shoes can vary from tennis shoes, to heels, to flats, to boots depending on the day and the occasion. Khaki skirts are just awesome.

Denim Skirts

I couldn't leave out denim skirts!

Denim skirts are great for casual days! I wouldn't pair them with the shoe options that they were paired with in the pictures, but these three skirts are great examples of the different styles you can find in denim skirts.
The possibilities are nearly endless.

The first picture is a shorter flowy skirt. I love this one! It is so feminine, modest, and nice.

The second picture is a fitted skirt. A denim pencil skirt. A great addition to any modest dresser's wardrobe. It looks great with tennis shoes, flats, and sandals. Denim is usually casual, but a nice blouse can dress it up a bit, and flowy tops look amazing with fitted skirts.

The third picture is a long, flowing denim skirt. It is a favorite among fundamental Christians. I don't wear these too often. I find they get in the way a lot, especially if you're an active person, but I still love them and think they're great in cooler months. You can even wear leggings or jeans under for extra warmth, and no one would even know.

I think that longer flowing denim skirts look best with flats or boots or sandals. Tennis shoes look odd with such a long skirt, and heels look odd with any denim skirt because denim is casual and heels are dressy.

That's all for now. I will probably have a Part 2 Skirts essential sometime in the future, and then I might move onto Shirt essentials.

Thanks for stopping by!
