Mixing prints/50's style?

I wore this with the wedges for school and with the tennis shoes for a party.

I dress up for school everyday because it is the dress code. We can't wear denim or tennis shoes. :(

I like mixing prints, but this is only the 2nd time I've done it. It isn't quite as bold or daring as some, but I really liked it. What you should do is check out this blog (kristinemachine.blogspot.com). She is like, the master of mixing prints. I'm not as brave as she is and I also don't think I could pull it off as well. Haha.

Oh, and I think this outfit is kinda 50ish. It felt that way to me.

Another thing is, I love tying button-ups at the waist. I think I like how it is rather slimming and how it makes an outfit look, better, than being untied and just buttoned (at least this outfit) Plus this shirt is missing every button but one. Haha

Skirt- I can't even remember

I'm a thrifting maniac guys. Haha

Oh another thing about mixing prints. I really liked doing it this way because it coordinated. You know like the blue flowers match the blue in my skirt? The kind of stuff you'd say when you were a little kid. :)

Ps since im using the blogger app for the iPod the pictures are in weird orders sometimes, and they always are at the end of the post...

Coral and khaki

It's really awkward taking pictures in the church bathroom. Lol

I'm obsessed with maxi dresses. I seriously would wear them all the time if I had enough. :)

Coral maxi dress---thrifted
Khaki jacket---Papaya
Shoes---American Eagle thrifted
Ring--forever21

Today was semi-cold. It was beautiful. I love cold weather as much as I love maxi dresses. It was somewhere between 55-60 degrees and yes, that is freezing :)

I apologize for the awkwardness of these pictures :) I'm still trying to figure out a good pose lol

Blue And brown

My first try using the blogger app for an outfit post. :) let me know if you like it ok. :)

I wore this dress for school and for Youth group stuff and I was gonna wear it for Bible study but I don't feel so well so I came home.

The dress is from Motherhood. Yeah it's a maternity dress. Lol I got it at a thrift store.

The cardigan is from Kathy Lee collection. A friend gave it to me.

The shoes are from Hot Kiss. They were from a friend. I injured my foot and the doctor said no heels (or working out) until it gets better. Yes it's sad.

The belt is from the same thrift store as the dress.

I took the pictures in the church bathroom. I thought the sound was off on my iPod. Turns out it wasn't and it made a shutter sound when I took the picture. There were other people in the bathroom. Yeah, it was awkward. Lol

Church outfit. :)

This is the outfit I wore yesterday for church. My seven year old brother took my pictures. Thanks, Jack! :)

I'm loving the color mint, but unfortunately, I don't have anything in a bright mint color like I wish. The button-up top is the closest thing I had.

The top is 3/4 sleeves, but with the heat, I rolled them up. I tied it at my waist, (one of my favorite looks.)

Everything I am wearing was thrifted. The shoes, I got at a garage sale, and everything else at this awesome little thrift store. :)

I'm excited about doing more outfit posts! :) <3

Have a good day!

I love sepia, but this was supposed to be in color!!! Silly Lizz. :P

I wore this Saturday on a nice moderate day. It was only 75 degrees out with a breeze. Very pleasant.

Stripesss!!

Since I originally started this blog to be a modest fashion blog and have since drifted away from that, I decided I would do a fashion post today. :)

First of all, yesterday I patterned mixed for the first time ever. I loved it. It was stepping out of my comfort zone and I liked it. {plaid flannel shirt with black dress with white polka dots. Need to get picture!}

So for today, I'm talking about a favorite of mine...stripes!!!

        {via}

I love stripes to no end.   And I love long sleeves and especially ones like that. ^^

{via}
I love that combination. Black and brown clash, and the simplicity of it. I love belts too.

{via}

And look!! A striped skirt. I need to get me one! Along with some nude heels. This outfit seems so European to me. I love
it.

I love stripes!!

December??? Whaaa!

I cannot believe December is already upon us! Another year coming to a close? Wow. Insanity to the max.

For most people December is a cold month. Cold for me meaning maybe 50, but not likely. More like 70's. I wish it got cold but it just doesn't. :(  So talking about weather made me check the reports and it is going to be in the mid-upper 60's the next few days. Tonight the low is 33. WOW! ""__" awesome!

Anyways, cold weather is my favorite. Especially for style! Layering, sweaters, scarves, leggings, boots! Yay!

http://www.forever21.com/Product/Category.aspx?br=f21&category=sweater_other Forever21 has a ton of great sweaters right now. :)

As soon as I can I want to start posting pictures of my outfits. :)
!
On another weather-related note...Epic Windstorms in West!!! It's crazy. The power went out at school today, so we got to go home early (WIN!!!!) a tree fell on a busy street, and winds were up to like 100 mph in LA!!! INSANE! They were like 20 mph here, which is also crazy!

I guess it is setting records for California! (I live there....if you haven't guessed already. lol)

Other Modest Dressing Essentials

If you want to dress modest, there are a few things you are going to want to have in your closet!

1. Cami's and Undershirts

You're going to want these in every color! Perfect for too low or too short tops! Be sure they come up high enough, and if not, pin them to your bra straps. Tada! Instant fix! It will stay high and won't reveal all if you bend over.

2. Cardigans!
I love cardigans!!!!

Cardigans are perfect for those cute sleeveless tops! Throw a cardigan on and you have instant style and modesty.

Cardigans come in so many colors too! Your possibilities are endless!

For now this is all I will post for today.

The Modest Dresser's Wardrobe Essentials {Skirts Part One}

As modest dressers, there are some things that you need to have in your closet, sure you can live without them, but why would you want to? :)

Black Skirts
 You need a black skirt in your closet! They're so versatile, and come in so many different designs. I have two different ones up there, a shorter, more fitted skirt, and a long, loose and flowing one.

Both look great with flats, heels, and I think the shorter one looks fine with tennis shoes as long as it goes with the top.

Black skirts can be dressed up, or dressed down. A simple t-shirt will make it a more casual look, and a blouse and cardigan can dress it up.

Khaki Skirts
 I've fallen in love with khaki recently. It's amazing. At my school, you can't wear denim, so if I am looking for a casual look, I can wear a khaki skirt, and voila instant casual outfit.
If I want, I can dress khaki up with heels and a nice blouse.

Khaki goes good with almost any top in your closet but I think that browns, greens, and blues look best with it.

Shoes can vary from tennis shoes, to heels, to flats, to boots depending on the day and the occasion. Khaki skirts are just awesome.

Denim Skirts

I couldn't leave out denim skirts!

Denim skirts are great for casual days! I wouldn't pair them with the shoe options that they were paired with in the pictures, but these three skirts are great examples of the different styles you can find in denim skirts.
The possibilities are nearly endless.

The first picture is a shorter flowy skirt. I love this one! It is so feminine, modest, and nice.

The second picture is a fitted skirt. A denim pencil skirt. A great addition to any modest dresser's wardrobe. It looks great with tennis shoes, flats, and sandals. Denim is usually casual, but a nice blouse can dress it up a bit, and flowy tops look amazing with fitted skirts.

The third picture is a long, flowing denim skirt. It is a favorite among fundamental Christians. I don't wear these too often. I find they get in the way a lot, especially if you're an active person, but I still love them and think they're great in cooler months. You can even wear leggings or jeans under for extra warmth, and no one would even know.

I think that longer flowing denim skirts look best with flats or boots or sandals. Tennis shoes look odd with such a long skirt, and heels look odd with any denim skirt because denim is casual and heels are dressy.

That's all for now. I will probably have a Part 2 Skirts essential sometime in the future, and then I might move onto Shirt essentials.

Thanks for stopping by!
